Key structures: internal medullary lamina, lateral nuclear group, limbic system, prefrontal cortex, anterior nuclear group, cingulate gyrus, ventral nuclear group, ventroanterior nucleus, basal ganglia, ventrolateral nucleus, cerebellum, ventroposterior nucleus, primary somatosensory cortex, cheiro-oral syndrome, medial geniculate nucleus, lateral geniculate nucleus, pulvinar, posterior nuclear group, secondary somatosensory cortex, medial nuclear group, midline nuclear group, hypothalamus, intralaminar nuclear group, thalamic reticular nucleus.
