The Vestibular System
In this tutorial, we will draw the neuroanatomy of the central vestibular pathways. Key structures/terms: vestibulo-ocular reflex, semicircular canals, oculomotor nucleus, abducens nucleus, lateral rectus,medial longitudinal fasciculus, medial rectus, ascending tract of Deiters, vestibulospinal pathways, vestibular nuclear complex, upper pons, inferior floor of the fourth ventricle (the mid-inferior olivary nucleus medullary level), superior nucleus, medial nucleus, lateral nucleus, inferior nucleus, lateral vestibulospinal tract, medial vestibulospinal tract, the reticulospinal tracts, thalamus, reticular formation, vestibulocolic reflex.
